Tassal Dover WWTP, Tasmania was in need of a Waste Water Treatment Plant Tank, with dimensions of 22m in diameter by 4,800mm in height and with 250mm thick walls.
When approached by Stephen Little for pricing for the tender on this project, RMD Hobart offered Reflex, RMD’s curved wall system, as an alternative to conventional formwork systems, which would consist of radius walers, soldiers and plywood. The Reflex system was chosen as the most cost effective product in RMD Australia’s range to deliver speed in construction at an affordable cost for circular tanks.
Having had a successful project with Stephen Little Constructions, using RMD Australia’s Airodek soffit system previously, our client was more inclined to take on the Reflex system on this project. RMD Australia produced detailed engineered drawings for the assembly of Reflex for the construction of the plant tank. The walkways and general safety features incorporated into Reflex and the speed with which it could be erected and dismantled gave it a distinct edge over conventional forms.
RMD supplied half the tank to full height to be set up and poured. Then it was moved to the other half of the tank for its completion. The speed with which the Reflex system can be radiussed, erected and stripped, made the use of Reflex very productive. The labour savings generated were a major benefit.
